Donations

Click on the Donate icon to the left to make an online donation. You need not have a PayPal account. All major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Checks payable to the David M. Smith Campaign are welcome via US mail or personal delivery during business hours at David Smith's office.

Pickup of cash ($100 or less) or checks is also available. Please contact the campaign for arrangements.

Pledges

Pledges for future donations (e.g. $ X one-time donation on DATE or $ Y per month each month through November 2010) are welcome and very helpful in campaign budget planning.

Acceptability (compliance with campaign finance law)

Donations or pledges can be accepted from US citizens, permanent legal residents and political action committees to which US citizens or legal residents contribute. Donations or pledges can not be accepted from corporations other than sole proprietorships. The recent US Supreme Court decision did not change this.

Acceptability (policy of this campaign)

Donations or pledges will not be accepted from individuals doing business with the Collin County government.

Reporting

The campaign cannot accept anonymous donations. However, only donations from an individual totaling more than $50 in a reporting period must appear on publicly recorded campaign finance reports.

Reporting periods for this year:

January 1 - June 30, 2010
July 1 - September 23, 2010
September 24 - October 23, 2010
October 24 - December 31, 2010

If broken into donations of $50 or less during each of the above four periods, up to $200 per individual (or $400 per couple) may be contributed during 2010 without appearing on a report.
